Discontinuation of Support for Windows 10
Windows 10, the operating system we have been using since 2015, remains a stable and reliable choice for many users. However, Microsoft will end support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025. This means that the operating system will no longer receive security updates, technical support, or other improvements. This has significant consequences for users, businesses, and organizations still using Windows 10.
What will happen after October 14-th?
When Microsoft ends support for a specific operating system (in this case, Windows 10), it means that security patches will no longer be installed. As a result, Windows 10 will become increasingly vulnerable to various types of cyberattacks, as attackers are always searching for and exploiting vulnerabilities in outdated systems.
This is especially dangerous for users who store important personal or business data on their devices, as this data will become more at risk without regular security updates. Additionally, there will be no technical support, meaning that any issues that arise while using Windows 10 will not be addressed.
Why upgrade or switch to Windows 11?
Security and Reliability
Windows 11 offers several improvements in security. One of its key advantages is the integration of biometric data, such as facial recognition (Windows Hello), which allows for an easy and secure way to log in. In addition, Windows 11 includes enhanced protection against malicious software and attacks, such as the use of TPM 2.0 (Trusted Platform Module), which provides an extra layer of security for sensitive data.
Increased Performance and Efficiency
Windows 11 is designed to better utilize the capabilities of modern computing devices. It offers improved multitasking support with new features such as Snap Layouts, which make it easier to work with multiple windows at once. Additionally, it has improved optimization for newer processors, meaning the system will run faster and more stably.
Modernized User Experience
Windows 11 brings a completely new and modern look, with a refreshed Start menu, a more streamlined window manager, and simplified navigation. The user interface is designed to be more intuitive and user-friendly across various devices, from desktop computers to laptops and tablets.
Support for Apps and Games
Windows 11 offers better support for new apps, including advanced features for gaming. With the introduction of Android app support, it allows users to download and use apps that are typically available only on mobile devices. At the same time, Windows 11 provides better support for gaming, offering higher performance with DirectStorage and Auto HDR, which enhances game quality and content loading.
Focus on Business and Academic Environments
Windows 11 is designed for easier and faster integration of cloud solutions such as Azure, M365, and others into business and academic environments. With effective tools and approaches, it simplifies and speeds up device administration and control, while enabling faster and more secure work.
How to Transition or Upgrade to Windows 11
The transition to Windows 11 can be straightforward, but you need to ensure that your computer is compatible with the new system. Microsoft’s list of minimum system requirements states that you need at least a 64-bit processor or SoC (System on a Chip) with a clock speed of at least 1 GHz, 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of disk space, TPM 2.0, and a system environment that supports UEFI boot mode. If your computer meets these requirements, you can upgrade without issues.
If your computer does not meet these requirements, you may need to consider purchasing a new device that comes pre-installed with Windows 11.
Our Advice
At our company, we recommend performing a clean installation of Windows 11, rather than an upgrade. Before installation, make sure to back up all your data, settings, and access information. Once your data is securely backed up, install Windows 11 on your computer and choose the “clean installation” option during the installation process.
Summary
The discontinuation of support for Windows 10 is a milestone that will drive broader adoption of Windows 11. Not only does Windows 11 bring improvements in security and performance, but it also offers a better user experience and support for new technologies like gaming and mobile apps. By upgrading to Windows 11 on time, you can avoid security risks and enjoy all the benefits that a modern operating system has to offer.
