Notice of Increased Cybersecurity Threat Risk
On 28 February 2026, the United States of America and Israel carried out military strikes against the Islamic Republic of Iran. Iran responded to these actions with military attacks on Israel and on U.S. military bases in the Middle East. Given the heightened security situation, there is an increased likelihood that Iran may also employ its cyber capabilities as part of its response to the joint military operations by the United States and Israel.
Following 28 February, cyber exposure in Europe has increased significantly. In the first 72 hours alone, nearly 23% of all global DDoS attacks were directed at European government, financial, and telecommunications targets. As a result, the risk remains elevated for critical sectors, particularly energy, finance, and IT infrastructure.
In the current heightened security environment, it is essential that end users also actively contribute to improved cybersecurity. Below are key recommendations that require particular attention:
Recommended Security Measures
Use of security mechanisms
Implement endpoint detection and response (EDR) solutions, which significantly reduce the risk of malware infections and enable timely detection of potential cyberattacks. If you are unsure whether such mechanisms are in place, please contact us.
Regular data backups
Ensure that your most important files and documents are not stored solely on your computer or in a cloud service, but also on an external drive that is not permanently connected to the internet. This provides protection against data loss caused by encryption or deletion.
Caution when handling email
Carefully verify the senders of email messages. Never click on suspicious links or open unknown attachments. If in doubt, we are here to assist you.
Recognizing social engineering attempts
Be alert to unusual requests for personal information, passwords, or money received via email, phone calls, or social media. Never disclose your passwords.
Strong passwords and multi-factor authentication
Use long and complex passwords and, where possible, enable additional protection through multi-factor authentication (MFA).
Limiting network access
Avoid connecting to public or unknown Wi‑Fi networks when accessing sensitive data or services.
Reporting suspicious activity
If you notice unusual computer behavior, unexpected password requests, or suspicious emails, please notify us immediately.
Monitoring security notifications
Pay attention to our notifications and to recommendations issued by national cybersecurity authorities. Regularly review official alerts and follow the provided guidance.
Cybersecurity is not solely the responsibility of IT professionals, but a shared responsibility of every individual. By following the above recommendations, you can significantly reduce the risk of becoming a victim of a cyberattack.
